This article highlights three significant AgTech venture capital investment funds in South America from our keyword crawler generated AgTech VC investor list.
1. GriDX (Argentina)
GriDX has set their goal to transform scientific ideas into start-ups so science can move from lab to market. The company searches for suitable scientists and business entrepreneurs at universities and labs to build a capable team. In the beginning, they invest up to 200 thousand US-Dollars and connect the start-up to the company’s network. In a follow-up, they can invest up to 1.5 million US-Dollars. Portfolio companies include Nat4Bio, an organic coating to protect postharvest fruit, and Elytron, a company that develops natural biopesticides.
2. The Yield Lab (Argentina)
The Yield Lab is a venture capital investment fund that is based in different locations around the world, including North America (St. Louis, Missouri), Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile), Asia Pacific (Singapore), and Europe (Ireland). They invest in high-impact companies in the early-stage and also support a non-profit branch to provide educational resources. The Yield Lab has invested in 17 companies across 5 countries in Latin America and has created over 500 job opportunities. Portfolio companies in Latin America are, for example, Agree, a platform built to improve and simplify farmers’ everyday work, and Polynatural, a natural and edible fruit coating that preserves the produce from dehydration and oxidation.
3. Brazil Venture Capital (Brazil)
Brazil Venture Capital was founded in 2014 and invests in early-stage tech start-ups in Latin America. The company is looking for entrepreneurs, interesting business models and diverse teams. They also offer opportunities to expand to other parts of the world, such as the US, Europe, and Asia. An interesting portfolio company is Arpac. Arpac develops equipment for Brazilian crops and supplies agricultural air services with specialized professional drones.
