This text presents an evaluation of a worldwide database of private equity investors. Our team used a keyword-tracking approach to identify investors whose websites feature climate tech-related terms. As a result, we created a comprehensive Excel spreadsheet to accurately identify relevant investors in the climate tech industry.
Investments in the climate tech sector in private equity are gaining momentum due to increasing awareness of environmental issues and demand for sustainable solutions. In this article, we are introducing three interesting equity funds from our keyword crawler-based climate-tech-private equity investors list.
1. Rive Private Investment (Paris)
Rive Private Investment is an independent investment firm based in Paris that specializes in energy transition infrastructure and transportation assets. The firm was established in 2013 and operates across several European countries, including Luxembourg and Geneva. Rive Private Investment has a strong focus on sustainable infrastructures. Rive Private Investment has collaborated with Green Energy 3000, a German Independent Power Producer that specializes in renewable energy, on financing for renewable energy projects in France. The projects include a wind farm and a solar park.
2. Ardian (Paris)
Ardian, a leading private investment firm headquartered in Paris, has demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing climate change and investing in climate technology. The company is actively involved in various industry-wide initiatives to mitigate climate change, such as assisting its portfolio companies in identifying and reducing carbon emissions. One notable initiative is their participation in the ‘Investing in Climate Action’ program. The ‘Case for Hydrogen’ event brought together industry leaders to discuss business opportunities and challenges in hydrogen, a key area in climate technology. This demonstrates Ardian’s interest in exploring innovative solutions within the climate technology space, particularly those that have the potential to revolutionize the energy and infrastructure sectors.
3. Tikehau Investment Management (Paris)
Tikehau Investment Management, a global alternative asset management group based in Paris, has demonstrated a strong commitment to climate-focused investments. The firm aims to manage at least €5 billion in assets dedicated exclusively to fighting climate change by 2025. This initiative is part of their broader strategy to contribute to the decarbonization of the economy and combat climate change across their investment strategies. Tikehau Capital has launched the Climate Action Centre, a platform dedicated to decarbonization, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture and food, the circular economy, and sustainable consumption. The Centre is headed by Pierre Abadie, who serves as the Group Climate Director and Co-head of Tikehau Capital’s T2 Energy Transition Private Equity fund.
