In this report, we present the findings of our investigation carried out on our global private equity investor database. Our inquiry comprised the use of our vast database and a keyword crawler to identify private equity investors who mention food-related terminologies on their websites. The resulting Excel sheet is extensive and detailed, offering a beneficial approach to connecting with the most relevant investors within the food sector.
Overall, the French food industry centers on sustainability, health, and innovative technologies, all of which make it an attractive area of investment and interest for domestic and international sources. In this article, we are introducing three interesting food-focused private equity funds from our keyword crawler-based food private equity investors list.
1. Motion Equity Partners (Paris)
Motion Equity Partners is a private equity firm based in Paris, managing assets worth more than €1 billion. To strengthen their portfolio in the food sector ME Partners completed several investments in this area. In September 2022 for example, the investment company acquired Tournaire Group, a firm specializing in high-barrier packaging solutions that are used across numerous sectors, including food ingredients. It is a well-established global player with extensive experience in creating aluminum packaging solutions.
2. Mérieux Equity Partners (Lyon)
Mérieux Equity Partners, headquartered in Lyon, is a distinguished investor with a focus on healthcare, life sciences, and nutrition. With more than a decade of experience, the firm has backed over 45 companies from Europe and North America through its two investment platforms. Managing funds worth over €1.3 billion, the firm takes pride in supporting companies with high-growth potential, particularly those in the stages of moving from prototype to production or expanding from local to international markets. In 2019, the investment firm purchased NutraGroup, a prominent entity in the food ingredient market. NutraGroup specializes in supplying, formulating, and producing food supplements, and has two primary subsidiary companies.
3. Isatis Capital (Paris)
Isatis Capital is a firm based in Paris that primarily supports approximately thirty French SMEs across several sectors, such as digital, healthcare, and food. Regarding the food sector, the organization acquired several businesses to bolster its portfolio, including Bioswell. Bioswell is a company that specializes in manufacturing, designing, and marketing mineral fertilizers and biostimulants, as well as trading mineral and organic co-products. The Bioswell group is established as a prominent practitioner in the field of sustainable agriculture by providing responsible and effective products.
