Sweden, known for its commitment to sustainability and environmental issues, has become a hub for investments in plant-based foods, sustainable packaging solutions, and food waste reduction technologies.
In this article, we are introducing three interesting food-focused private equity funds from our keyword crawler-based food private equity investors list.

1. Summa Equity (Stockholm)

Summa Equity, established in 2016 and headquartered in Stockholm, is a private equity firm that invests in resource-efficient businesses, caters to changing demographics, and employs technology. The firm has approximately EUR 5 billion in assets under management and has made roughly 30 investments. It manages three funds, all domiciled in Sweden and named Summa Equity Fund I, II, and III. Summa Equity has demonstrated a strong interest in revolutionizing the global food system as it invests in the food sector. Kees Kruythoff, who was previously associated with Unilever for 27 years, now holds the position of Thematic Chair for Sustainable Food at Summa Equity. He highlights the pressing need to address the harmful effects of the existing food and agriculture system on the environment.

2. Trill Impact (Stockholm)

Trill Impact, a prominent private equity firm that specializes in impact investing, is situated in Stockholm, Sweden. Established in 2019, the company concentrates on investments that foster positive environmental and societal consequences. With assets under management totaling approximately 1.2 billion euros, Trill Impact employs different approaches, such as Impact Private Equity, Impact Ventures, and Microfinance. In the food industry, Trill Impact has invested in Komet, an Austrian agricultural irrigation business run by a family. Komet manufactures sprinklers, regulators, and large-volume guns specific to pivot and hose reel systems for irrigation purposes.

3. Procuritas (Stockholm)

Procuritas is a private equity firm located in Stockholm, Sweden, with a reputation for targeting mid-market Nordic companies. Founded in 1986, the firm has more than 35 years of experience forging strong bonds with entrepreneurs and founders, to accelerate growth. Procuritas has invested in a range of businesses in the food sector. The investment firm purchased Gram Equipment, a company specializing in advanced ice cream machines, as part of its Fund IV. The acquisition from Catelli (Gram) & Anderson Group occurred in 2010, and Procuritas held the company until 2018 when it was sold to FSN.
