Insurtech is a term that is used to describe modern solutions for technology in the insurance sector. Insurtech strives to find efficient and cost-effective ways for the industry to improve current insurance models. This article highlights three interesting insurtech venture capital investors from our curated insurtech VC funds list.
1. FinTLV (Israel)
FinTLV is a global venture capital firm headquartered in Israel, specialising in investments in insurtech and fintech. In September 2023, FinTLV invested in Akur8, a company transforming insurance pricing with Transparent AI. This latest investment, totalling $25 million, brings Akur8’s total funding to over $60 million. In addition, FinTLV co-led a $20 million Series B investment in ifeel in June 2024, a European mental health solution provider for businesses and insurance companies. ifeel uses advanced data analytics, clinical research and AI to manage mental health among employees and insured individuals which adds value to FinTLV’s commitment to promoting innovative solutions in the insurtech sector.
2. Pruven Capital (USA)
Pruven Capital is a venture capital firm from the United States that backs founders and start-ups in the fintech, healthtech, real estate, and insurtech sectors. One of their portfolio companies is TrsutLayer, an automated insurance verification system that checks if business partners have the right insurance coverage.
Update 2024: PruVen, Falabella Ventures, and existing investors Redpoint Ventures and Headline participated in a financing round, bringing Pismo’s total funding raised to $118 million. Pismo, based in São Paulo, has a list of big-name customers, including Citi, Itaú (one of Brazil’s largest banks), Revolut, N26, Nubank, and Cora.
3. Helvetia Venture Fund (Switzerland)
Helvetia Venture Fund describes their company as a long-term investment fund with a hands-on approach who are interested in early-stage start-ups in the insurance sector. Helvetia Venture Fund is part of the insurance company Helvetia and is, therefore, a corporate VC. They invested in Inzmo in 2017, a company with their headquarters in Berlin that developed an app for different insurances.
